Resistance is Futile

Most of you Loyal Readers are aware that a) Äiti is a teacher of physics b) Äiti is currently on sick leave*. She, however, gets bored easily and realised this was the perfect opportunity for her to finally carry out a project she has been meaning to do for about 10 years! It is extremely dull in our opinion, but of course we have to contribute - nothing is complete without cat fur after all.
So our series of shots begin as Mesi inspected the rejected stuff - and this is more proof Meniere's Disease stops multi-tasking: Äiti cannot take a decent photo and build her contraption at the same time!
She started with a blank canvas- literally. I checked by walking over it.
First she laid out the bits. Sampo was very interested and moved several around: parallel became anti-parallel quite fast.
Jaava and Mesi wanted to get in on the act and Äiti encouraged this - physics is not just for the boys. And so they tried to use their teefs -Äiti got cross about that. But surely cables that size are there to be chewed?
Aila then took up residence. She has had many years of experience of Äiti's projects and was totally dubious about this one.
And this is the finished piece - well almost. She has to go to work to get the connecting leads for the meters and the all important power supply. But for some strange reason the Thing** is now hidden from us so we cannot test how robust it is.
As for me, well I switched off quite fast and I left the girls in charge.***
Äiti's notes:
* Sick leave - hopefully I'll be well enough to go back to work in a week....
**The Thing - for the nerds amongst you it is a simple demonstration circuit for Kirchoff's Laws which is one of  most frustrating experiments to do with students since usually the kit doesn't show the 'correct' answers as the lamp resistances are not matched properly.
***All puns intended.

Well, we're SHOCKED that she hid the Thing! Those wires simply cry out to be...erm...tested. Yeah, that's it. TESTED.

Do you kitties think Aiti is LOOP-y? (our mom MADE us write that - she LOVED circuits, she's weird that way.)

I'm sure her students would love if you guys joined her for work! You're experts, you are FELINE-divine AND you'll probably mess things up: they'll love you. ;)

Building a toy then hiding it? What kind of ancient torture is going on over there????

I bet you kitties were all a GREAT help! So I'm wondering why Äiti put the contraption away somewhere you guys couldn't get to it.

All those leads and switches look very whappable, but I think I will do as you do, King P and have a nap before I get brain overload.

Meniere's is a monster!
Mum turned her head to the right last night and went into the washing machine for hours. But, in all fairness, she had been munching salty crisps......

She can do any experiment she wants except Schrodinger's cat one.

What a waste of good toys. The Human says Aiti is very clever, but seriously? What the heck is that thing for anyway--the torture of innocent students?
