Friday Tales

Sampo celebrated his birthday by keeping warm. It was down to -30°C outdoors and that's far too cold for any of us to be out. Äiti is pleased she is feeding the birdies - which of course is a good investment for us!
Now we were asked by those nosey Queens of Finland (S) at when the cat is away about how Äiti 'chose' Sampo (as if any human chooses a cat - it's vice versa!). Well, she went to a cat show about 4 years ago and met a beautiful young burmese girl called Nippe, from Purmelita's cattery. She could not take her eyes off this beautiful brown girl. So when the Kissmollin litter was on the way she mentioned perhaps a brown boy would be a welcome addition to perheeni - not that I was asked about this. And three years and one day ago she was teaching her class and received a photomessage with a little damp splodge on it - birth #1 was a brown boy. And she dashed over that day and held Sampo, and knew he would join us.  And in fact Nippe and Sampo met up when he was mature enough, and he had a great holiday trying to make kittens.  But a litter was not destined to be. Instead Mesi's brown brother Pepe became a dad with Nippe a year ago. Mr & Mrs Brown had a lovely litter - of blue kittens!
Now as it is winter and beautiful and dark,  Äiti would usually be outside watching for northern lights.  However she's too tired to be out so has set up the GoPro to take time lapse sequences. This pleases us as the camera's not round our necks.  This was the display of tails waving from all those we have loved having a great playtime at 02:30 yesterday morning. All is well.

We remember the Handsome Sleek Brown Boy from the very first! Who woulda thunk such a silly looking splodge would turn out so well...MOL!

Mommy is pretty sure she spotted Grayce's stubby tail up in the sky...

The lights are most beautiful! We enjoy each and every pic of them that you share with us!

Happy Birthday handsome Sampo! We can't think of a better way to spend a birthday than nestled between the blankets with your human.

My human waited a long time for me! And when she met me, we knew pretty quickly we were a team.

I remember when Aiti saw Nippe and when Sampo was born. My mum says she would love to see the Northern Lights, but I have told her she is not going away in the winter as I need her here keeping the fire hot for me.
