Sunday Sisu

We Finns have sisu. It is hard thing to translate but it is resilience, courage and determination, especially in the face of adversity. Imagine thirty thousand Finnish soldiers holding off the huge Russian Army in the Winter War and you get the idea.
Well, every morning Äiti greets the day by opening the catio door. As it was Saturday yesterday a bunch of us joyfully dashed out into the snows wanting to play - forgetting it was actually still dark. Äiti went inside to make our foods and 30 minutes later realised Mesi had not come back - we can go in and out at leisure ourselves still, of course, but she'd not returned.  She went out with the torch and saw Mesi at the far reaches, beyond the deepest snows.  Forgive the photos but the conditions were poor!
Now we knew Äiti was concerned, so dashed out to protect Mesi - who was perfectly capable of getting back herself but we needed the adventure. And then Äiti realised SEPPO had come out to help. Behold, the other side of sisu: stoopiness! A nekkid in the snow!
And not just one, Veikko appeared too.
He tippy toed across the drifts even when Mesi had disappeared into the warmth of indoors.
Now Äiti knows better than to stand taking photos when there is so much feline flesh that can freeze - even though the temperature was just 0°C these are not good things for sphynxies and she made sure that extra calories were consumed to make up for heat loss. And of course we all joined in on that: afgter the times of hardship, feasting can be enjoyed.

So your strategy is Let's freeze for 1 minute, and get extra food? And this works??? WOW!

Sisu brings great rewards in the shape of extra calories.
