Midday Monday

We managed to boot Äiti off her butt for a short time yesterday, as something rare took place: the sun was visible. She went out at midday and got a photo. Previously it has been behind clouds. Now we do not have 100% darkness on any day of the year but right now our wonderful star only creeps above the horizon for a few hours a day even in this far south of Finland (N).
Just as well we don't live in Utsjoki - next sun rise on January 16th!  This time is called 'kaamos' which is the winter darkness.
Now we won't get sun puddles on the catio for another couple of months so instead we have a bright lamp to help. And we make the most of it of course.

Mum would not survive without sunshine. I think she is partially solar powered. She was outside today working in the yard, getting some sun. She said it felt good. The temp was above freezing.

Right now it's 6C and forecast for zero tonight! brrrrrrrrr. We think that bright light would be SO nice for basking.

I don't think I'd like to go without sun puddles for weeks every year!

Yesh PPP.

Fine work. Äiti is on her feet. We love to hear it. We also called kaamos name "pirtti pimiät" - which means that dark days is good time to be inside warm and enjoy rest.

The dark time would be not so bad or long if the humans could stay at home all day and do our bidding!
Excellent photo, Aiti.
Happy Monday!

Excellent that your Mum was up.
A day without light would confuse our mum beyond words. She's a sun bunny.

Wow! We'd be under that lamp all day and night!

Yeah for seeing the sun! When my mum was in the Arctic Circle in June, the sun was higher than that at midnight!

Good on you kitties for getting Aiti out into the sunlight. It is so nice of you to take care of her that way.

We thinks it's great you share the shiny light with her too.
