Sadly Disappointed Sunday

Äiti is not famed for her neatness and handicraft skills. Her stuff is functional and held together with cable ties and duct tape, so we were all shocked when she decided to take up crochet as a hobby. She wants to emulate MomTrish we guess but she should not even try. She was so very proud of herself when she produced this flat multicoloured thing, having followed an actual, real pattern.
Jura does the stinkeye really well. He sums up our feelings - this was a cat bed ? Nope, more like a paw mat.
Even Seppo questions its purpose. Thicker yarn would help, Äiti; it might add a bit of three dimensionality.

Cut her a break, guys. Maybe she can crochet you some hats for winter!

Looks more like a baby kitten bed.

Heh heh heh...we think this bed must be for a KITTEN!!! Um, are you getting a new family member?

My human, who knows something about crocheting (and in the past turned out some really poor quality things) says that if it lies flat, that is an accomplishment in itself!

It's what the Humans call a "doily," isn't it King P? I wouldn't have anything to do with it. The Humans set cunning little porcelain figurines on their "doilies" but somehow we don't imagine Aiti has any of those. Maybe one of you could yack sumfing up on it?

The Mommy says that Aiti did well.
We kittehz think it is a most excellent yak mat.

Actually your Aiti has done a fine job . It lays perfectly flat! And that's not that easy to do! Just think, she could make lots of soft, warm woolen, bowl shaped things for kitties to cuddle in at nap time. And nice squares would be so delightful to tread with our feet.

We are wondering if our Moms are sisters. We know the concept of cable ties and duct tape; Finns calling it Jeesusteippi (Jesus tape for our non-Finnish readers) doesn't make it devine.

Well it was her first attempt, and my mum hasn't even done that much.

Well, it's not a bed, it's a mat for sitting on it only. Purrs

We think it looks like a trivet for hot dishes :)

I think she did a great job. I have lots of easy patterns pinned on Pinterest for cat toys if she is looking for something to make.
