So, we have been asked for more details of our mighty mousing. This is the centre of our attention: peltomyyrä, which is, we think, a field vole in English. Two have been living in the compost heap: now there is one!
Our eager watching and wishing paid off and on Wednesday night Äiti heard lots of growling in the kitchen and she discovered me under the table, proudly dangling the prey. Now she has no idea who dashed inside with it but she thinks it was probably me who caught it as I was so proud of it and growled at any cat who came close. Usually the successful hunter does this!
She was not so happy that it was inside and tried to retrieve it from me - and failed, hehehehehe. I dashed all over the house with it.
Eventually she managed to get it outside and after a lot of playing with it, I gave up and Pekka went in for the feasting. If you wish to see the gory detils of this disembowelling, here is a video (and it pretty much proves it was not crocheted!).
So, now we are focused on the second mousie, and also quite optimistic about the future of our feathered snack dispenser.......... Yes, Äiti has a birdbox with a webcam in: drool.

Our Mom is such an old hag when it comes to us disemboweling things inside!
We think your snack future looks very bright, indeed. Please keep us posted.
Happy Friday!

Oh man, you got it IN THE HOUSE?
GOOD WERK!
Good job!! Tessa and Kajsa are really jealous!
That was pretty awesome! I have yet to catch anything more impressive than... a fly.
I bring mousies in and The Staff screams the place down (Ed. She doesn't!) Anyway Kudos, as that one looks particularly succulent!
We have read about Mom Trish's stay and are delighted she's come over to the dark side re the builders tea ;)
Our mom used to like voles... until some pesky one destroyed her garden last year, so GO YOU, you great hunter, you!
I am so jealous:
A real live fuzzy snack and
Real live up-close birdie TV!!!
You are a Mighty Hunter King P.I like to take my kill into the house too, but my mum doesn't mind. It's when I bring them in still alive that she objects. Like you, I also used to give it up when I had finished playing and maybe having a munch on it's head. When I gave it to Eric, he was quicker than Pekka in devouring it. All trace was gone in less than a minute.
My sperm has arrived, thank you. It smelled very interesting and I have been playing with it a lot. Mum tried to take a picture of me with the card but it also had that valerian smell and I kept rolling on it. We will post about it probably on Sunday.
Congrats on your catch- I am going to pass on the video though. :)
Well done ! Purrs
