Apparently it is a rite of passage for Finnish human children to lick lamp posts when the temperature is minus silly degrees. Their tongues then freeze and they can either wait for some adult to help them thaw it off, or they just show true grit (and foolishness) and pull - often leaving part of their flesh behind. Ugh. Äiti is astonished at how many of her students admit to doing this.
Mirsku is here lapping up melting ice and I assure Loyal Readers that no bits of him got stuck anywhere!

I am glad nothing got stuck Mirsku. Mum said it brought back memories of being at a school sports day when she was still in the infants school. Her mum bought her an ice lolly and when she licked it her tongue stuck. She panicked and pulled and left some skin on the lolly. She would never eat another ice lolly after that, but she does like Magnums now.
We're trying to decide whether Mirsku is brave or totally mad...
Purrs,
