Friday's Big Reveal

So, what's all this fuss and secrecy then ? Loyal Readers may be bemused; some Loyal Readers may already know - but today we will tell all! It's all about Äiti's lap - which Seppo and I are sharing in the picture.
Over the last couple of years we have experienced a shrinking Äiti, and she has become a bit thinner than before. Now this has been of great dismay as less of us fit on her lap, but nonetheless she went on with her diet. Now she finds that she has too many flabby, saggy bits around her gut, and she is due to have all this removed. Now some of us are in the habit of jumping on her and kneading like pile drivers and she became a little worried about this. So, when worried, what do humans do ? They ask each other questions. Knowing that Mom Trish at the Katnip Lounge had had surgery of the abdominal kind a while ago, she sent her a polite email asking how she 'coped' with feline kneads, post-operatively, and how she could protect her wounds. And she got the following reply:

you could get a big box and cut out holes for your head and limbs to poke through!  If you do this I *really* want pictures, LOL.  And credit.

Well we thought that a most excellent idea, but Äiti did not. However she also said:

Maybe you should have a friend stay at the house for a week to act as a decoy and divert some of your horde!  You may need somebody just to help you out for few days, anyway...

To which Äiti basically said, well come on over.

And that, Loyal Readers is how it has all developed. Äiti is due for surgery in the middle of April, and Mom Trish is booked on a flight to Finland (N) a few days before. Mirsku is all aquiver, even though he knows May Ling will not be able to travel here, in the fur. We are all extremely excited by this international collaboration and astounded by the kindness of someone on the other side of the world whom Äiti has never even met.  Äiti is not going to be an easy patient and we are not going to be particularly tolerant of her being intolerant of our Very Important Visitor.  We have the honour and reputation of Finncats and Britcats to protect.

So there you have it, the mystery is no longer mysterious. It is still incredible and amazing and awesome, but not a secret. And we will try very, very hard to make sure that Äiti does get to stick her head and arms out of a cardboard box anyway.
Mirsku, in the meantime, is waiting eagerly for mid-April.

Mommy says she is alternatively terrified and inexpressibly excited to come and visit all of you...and help care for Äiti as she recovers.
This is one of the greatest adventures of all time, and certainly the most crazypants!!

Mirsku can look forward to many many many surrogate smooches from his meezer May Ling!

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! OMC--the two craziest Cat Ladies (26 between you??? Whoa!) in one house--there will most definitely be a ripple in the Force. The Human is so envious she is weeping already. MomKat Trish had best arrive ready to document every single moment. (Say, would May Ling fit inside a camera case?)

My human is SO excited for the Katnip Lounge human... and a little envious as she has always wanted to visit Finland (and a little scared herself because in spite of the very much colder than California climate, she might be tempted to stay!). I can't wait for this trip to happen - I know it will be an adventure for all!

Paws crossed that Äiti's surgery is uneventful!

I have no doubt Trish will take excellent care of you! Hope your surgery goes well and that the kitties respect that your lap will be a temporary "no-go zone"! :)

This is such an exciting adventure! We wish Aiti a good surgery and lots of fun having Trish there with her. We look forward to reading about all the excitement.

I'll be wishing good thoughts for Aiti's surgery and post-op care. I'm sure Trish will be the best nurse ever!
That is what I call a true friendship, even though the two have never met in person. Safe travels, Trish! Quick recovery, Aiti!

We just heard the awesome news about the trip. As a Finnish citizen, I'm thrilled. I've met Trish and her horde so you'll be in good hands. Good luck with the surgery :-0

Good luck and speedy healing with the surgery. Having Trish there will be the best (and craziest) convalescence ever.

WOW, that is so cool! We are purring and praying that your surgery goes well, and look forward to your tales of the time you and Mom Trish have together!

Wonderful! It's never crazypants to help a friend in need. A good over-bed ( or chair) table similar to the ones they use in hospitals and a solid friend will make recovery that much nicer. A good recliner Is highly recommended. (Open hysterectomy patient here.)
The kitties will have the time of their lives.

WOW Katnip mom off to Finland(N)! My mum can also recommend pillows. Keep one on your lap so they can sit there, but can't get directly at you. Mum did that when she had her boobities operated on a few years ago.
