Britcat anniversary

Five years ago, five very brave Britcats flew to Finland to join Äiti in her new life. She had been waiting a week in her new apartment, sorting the place out for them.  Now we didn't say why Äiti relocated - it's a weird story but basically she fell in love with Finland! She visited in November 2006 for the first time - on a work trip which she really did not want to go on - and then her life changed totally. She loves the nature, the silence, the life here. She was extremely lucky to be able to just emigrate, and have a job here. Luck, fate - whatever - it brought her here. But she said it was only when she realised that she could bring her most precious family with her that she made the decision. There is no way she would ever have rehomed them in Britain. So, passports were bought, boxes were packed and it all happened !
When the Britcats arrived Harris and Lewis hid. Monty, Stran and Aila explored. Aila liked the shower. None of this carpet floor rubbish like in the UK - this was a proper wetroom!
By the way, Aila, we notice you are a little lighter in this photo, hehehe. And then she went into the sauna with Stran. We are family - we share saunas, no problem. The Britcats quickly adapted to our Finnish saunas.
And in the meantime, Harris was still hiding. Lewis was next to him, not daring to show a paw.
Monty took up residence on warm blankies. He was quite at home. he learned very fast where Äiti slept and was snuggled under the covers with her every night too.
And Harris and Lewis did emerge. They had a brand new sofa to occupy.
And where was I ? Well, I was probably just a twinkle in my mummy and daddy cat's eyes, as I was not born until September. At this point it was just Äiti and the 5 Britcats. Tessie-kilpikonna was still in Britain as Äiti wanted her to have a good summer there before moving in autumn. She was staying at a friend's house and demolishing their garden.
So now, here's to very many more years for us together.

Isn't it amazing how an epiphany works? We would have ended up in Hawaii except the quarantine was more than Mommy thought we could bear (30 days!) so we all ended up in Nevada.

We think you are all exceedingly intrepid felines, moving COUNTRIES, and learning Finnowish, to boot! Oh, and Äiti, too...

It is good to be well traveled, kitties. Not every cat can say that!

We love this story. It's so full of excitement and the purrfect happy ending.
Aiti is a very strong purrson. Our Mommy very nearly had a fit of apoplexy moving 15 miles across town with all of us!

I woulda read all this stuff but I saw the picture of Aila in the shower stall and I was just mesmerized. I really couldn't think about anything else.

I'll come back later and read. But it might happen again.

Your story is like a fairy tale, Aiti. Bad people, difficulties, adventures and then you met your King!

My human has never been to Finland, but she has heard wonderful things about this beautiful country and knows some nice people who come from there. Happy anniversary to the Britcats - they seem to have adjusted very well!

Yesh PPP!
Nice that humans get good brainstorms sometimes. Äiti got that in a right time, before you was born. Now she can be a partof Your Kingdom. Lucky she.

What a fascinating story. And happy ending too! How wonderful to be able to have a dream and really make it happen. When something so complex comes together, and actually works out, one knows it's meant to be!
We're here among the ruins caused by our Aiti's poor decision making hoping to discover our "meant to be".
