Celebratory Sunday

Today, five years ago, Äiti shut the door for the very last time on her house in England. For nearly a year she had been packing and sorting out loads and loads of stuff, preparing to move. This photo was taken a week before she left - it was an amazing world of cardboard boxes. You can see Harris and Aila exploring. Only Aila was Islay then! The pronunciation is exactly the same, but it is much easier to spell for us Finns as Aila.
So, one day two men came and took all the boxes. And the place was empty, except for three large carriers. Äiti placed food in front of them so the Britcats would get used to them. Here Stran and Monty (whom I knew only very briefly) are eating loads of yummy dry food. Look at all those bowls - and there were only 5 felines!
And of course Aila had her bossy paws everywhere! And that is the Magic Fishie we still play with.
Just look at this, loyal readers! Carpets! Filthy, fur-covered carpets. Hehehehe. Äiti doesn't miss these. But apparently they were ace to tear apart.
And a week after all the boxes had gone, Äiti stayed with very little stuff and the 5 Britcats. She then left. Huge abandonment. But she wanted a week to get sorted in Finland before the most important residents arrived. They were looked after by several really helpful, important cat-sitters. One bought a whole roast chicken over everyday!
And then, they were taken in the huge PTU's to Heathrow Airport and flown over. That was one of the most worrying days of Äiti's life, she says - particularly as there was a huge mess up with the company she used to organise it all which was mishandled by a deeply unpleasant woman who was exceedingly mean. However the Britcats were looked after by the real, important people who did the transporting like the taxi driver, vet, and airline staff. Äiti arrived at Oulu airport early, and watched the PTUs unloaded and put on a little truck, and she could see Monty-cat staring out at her. And he miaowed and sat up as soon as he saw Äiti. Stran and Aila shared a carrier and also were really happy to see Äiti. Harris and Lewis were together, and nervous, of course; Äiti was very worried about them but they coped. And so they arrived in Finland (North) and Äiti felt she now had a home. And then, in just three months I arrived quite unexpectedly. And the rest, well, it's all on this blog.
Now we have a catio and perheemme is larger. Äiti is very happy.
Stran is there to hold her paw. Stran says Äiti is far more relaxed and healthy than she was, and around for us felines more as her working hours are much better.
And I am here to govern and be handsome, and to notice when Äiti is not paying us enough attention.
And you, Loyal Readers, are here and much appreciated by us all. Here's to many more years for all of us.

Aila is just as beautiful as ever. Sigh. ::heart flutters::

And you, my royal colleague, well, you look pretty spiffy today also.

Although the Human is not helping me keep up as well as she *should* be, we did enjoy the giant sun rays coming out of you-know-who's adorable little bum yesterday ;-)

That was quite a move for the Britcats! The most I have ever had to move was three blocks... although those three blocks seemed like they took forever!

It must have been a very stressful time for your Aiti. But all's well that ends well. (and in this photo you look ready for a mischief)

Thank PPP!
Fine story with happy end. We finnish cats are very grateful to Äiti, that she chose Nort of Finland place to live. This is absolutely best place to be Cat and King Cat. Fine humans, lots of stinky birds, fine weather, good food and excellent vet.

Nice that all of you are here and share your life to us with this fine blog.

Hauskaa päivää all of you.

That was a very big adventure for all of you. Me and my mum are glad that everything went well for your move and you are all enjoying life together in Finland (North).

We can't even imagine the move you made! The longest move we ever made was from one coast to the other. Now, we've made many moves but they've all been in the same country. Now for he big question: how was Tessie moved? Did she have her own carrier or did she go in cabin with Your Aiti?
How did Aiti choose Finland for her move? How did she know she would want to make her home there. Our mum has moved to cheaper and cheaper locales and hates each one more than the last!
