Sampo Saturday

Well, the pikku prinssi has arrived.  Yesterday we were fooled with some food, and he was snuck upstairs. Stran was placed in the bedroom and Jura-ninja went in voluntarily. Then the box was put down and little Sampo emerged. Immediately Jura-eno was sniffing away and all over him Sampo was not so bothered.
But Jura is being the proud uncle and he has been following his brother.
Within about 10 minutes Sampo wanted to play and Jura wanted to join in.  Their breeder, who came along, was so proud of both of them.
Stran-veli perhaps realises the main kitten care can be done by Jura but he still gave Sampo a very loving sniff and we think he will be delighted to have a young whipper snapper about. Stran is a senior kitty who is about 6 months old at heart.
Pekka was not very bothered, he explored the box!
Sampo of course went back to the safety of his breeder's lap. He is mamman poika.
But he is also very confident as he swiped his feather toy in front of 7.5kg of Mirsku.  He has no fear!
And so, having delegated the intial greetings, I entered the bedroom. Afterall, I cannot let jsut anyone play on MY best blankie. I sniffed Sampo. Yes, okay I hissed a bit. But apparently it was nothing like the allegedly 'explosive hissy-fit' I had when I met Jaava and Jura-ninja. He was very polite to me. So I showed my authority by climbing the nearest cat tree and scratching away at it. He was watching me carefully.
And then I rubbed my chinny-chin all over his breeder's sock to make sure he knew who is boss.
Now it is not so good that he got to sleep in the bedroom behind a locked door, and we were not allowed in. This will change. Today we get to show him round my castle - I admit I am quite excited about the fact that I have a young prince to impress.

Kasvattaja on hyvin ylpeä pojistaan! Rohkeita, mutta rentoja kissoja molemmat.

It looks like things have gotten off to a good start with Sampo! Although I am sure there will be smackdowns as he learns the house rules (like don't mess with Aila!).

Hmm. So he is allowed to sleep in solitary splendor with Äiti? Well, perhaps her punishment shall be that he is unlikely to sleep for an entire night? It seems as though it all went as well as could possibly be expected. Sampo is quite the brave boy, is he not?

Sampo's arrival reminds us a little of Genji's. It is amazing how confident some of these young prices can be, and how easily they will fit in! The little prince looks all set to become an excellent member of your perheeni!

WOOOHOO the big day has arrvied! But you know, he does not look like pikku pentu. He looks like a cat. I think. A big welcome hug to Sampo!

Such a confident little boy! His introduction has exceeds expectations! It's so lovely that his breeder came along to make the transition easier. I suppose , though, after having brothers and sisters around it would be more difficult going to a home where one would be an only cat. I'd keep a close watch on our little Sampo. He's used to being the dominant force in his litter and his confidence may put him at risk with older, stronger cats.
P.S. He's BEAUTIFUL! What a delightful, handsome face!

What a confident young tot! We are so happy the initial meet-n-greet went well; around here it's more of a "what's another one?" mentality and of course Rupert gets a NEW butt to sniff.

We can't wait to see the initial exploration photos!
