Sunday Vigilance

I continue my duties as King Kitty Cat of Finland (North) watching over perheeni and my kingdom.  There are many important developments. Firstly Äiti has bought us a wide angle webcam for the catio, so you can see more of it. It is hard to see us if we are far away though, and we are negotiating a better position for it. Right now though it is very snowy the catio is in its 'winter arrangement' so the view will change in summer. In the meantime here is a close up of me to make up for this disappointment.
Secondly we have put a Sampo-countdown onto the blog.  Now I thought deeply about this, as to be honest I do not wish to be counting down the seconds until the little squab arrives. But it was requested by a loyal reader, and I must humbly respond to my public. So there's a counter.  And it seems to be going down faster than the level of dry food in our bowls.
Now we are aware that spring should be coming to Finland (North) - although there's not much sign of it outside. But the birds will be returning soon and this means extra vigilance against merikotka, the sea eagle. I have to makes sure perheeni is protected from kotka attack and this means restless hours on catio patrol. I wonder if I could delegate these to the  ninjas and young Sampo when he arrives as they all have loads of energy. Even though Äiti says kotka cannot get us through the catio wires, it is best to be safe. And hopefully while I am watching the mousies will be waking up, and even the squirrels. And we want to add another squirrel tail to our trophy cabinet.

Great pictures of you, King! We do love the countdown calendar. The Mommy here at Prancer Pie is very excited about this event. Pfft!

Thank you for the advice on watching for big birds. (we too have a top on our catio) We novice catio kittehz have much to learn about patrol. Thus far we have only seen a few field thrush and a songbird or two. Have a great day! XOXO

Pee Ess - what Mommy calls a thrush is really a Meadowlark.

I love the countdown! We get some hawks around here but they are not quite big enough to make off with even a smallish cat like me. It's the coyotes that inspire my human to permanently keep us inside.

A handsome king as well as a good one. Very regal portraits.
Punapippuri, did you ever think you might actually like the new kitty when he arrives?

Rufius thanks you for your very kind invitation but says the journey is a little too daunting for him. And anyway, he lies it here!

Those are some fittingly regal shots of you Puna-Chan!

Those eagle-types are EVIL. Perhaps you can pop your handsome self over and keep an eye on The Baby while she's sunning? We have a red-tailed hawk hunting in our area...

Yo, King P, where's your crown, Pal? I mean, you do look plenty regal and all, but a little bling would really make you Pop, you know?

Alas, we have not been able to log on to CatioCam today--we put in the password fine and it is accepted, but then we get an error message. Shoot! We was looking forward to some skwerl killing and all. Maybe tomorrow, eh?
