Tuomo's Christmas Day

This is not a sad post, loyal readers. With this post we celebrate our cantankerous grumpy old git. Äiti took a lot of photos on Christmas Day and is so glad she did now because we can see that Tuomo was his usual self up until his end and we can share this happy time. We would all want to 'go' in this way and we can be very happy with a full life, lived as we would want it.
Tuomo is here on the shelf in the hall - a most excellent vantage point. All entry into the kitchen can be monitored, just in case the food cupboard is opened!
He was about 6kg, but climbed up and down the walls well.
And of course had to rest up with naps after all this exercise. Note to Äiti - clean this cushion please!
And then he found the sheepskin. So did Jaava-ninja. Now if you are a ninja and went near  farmboy Tuomo, you know what happens next! One paw grip....
Second paw coming.....
 And prepare to grapple.
Later Tuomo was snoozing, having claimed the sheepskin all for himself. One happy mancat.
And then he did the cutest thing - and this is our last photo.
Sleep well, sweet boy.  We are privileged to have had you in our lives.

Such fun and sweet photos! Thanks so much for sharing them, and Tuomo, with us. He certainly knew how to live life, and did so right until his last breath. That kind of spirit is something all kitties should aspire to.

That last photo is extraordinary in its sweetness. The other photos are indeed full of joy. Tuomo lived and then was no more, except in the hearts of all those who loved him.

Purrs,

After Tuomo came to live with you, he had the life we we wish all kitties- and beans too-had. He adored his Aiti and his Aiti adored him in return.
She made his house a veritable kitty playland and there was always lots of food and delicious treats.
And let's not forget his catio and that heavenly sauna. And when it was his time to depart, he simply went to sleep. It doesn't get much better than that, does it?

Tuomo did everything he loved doing on his last day; and he loved being photographed by his Aiti. The last picture was his way of telling Aiti he was OK, just very tired and ready to go rest at the bridge. A wonderful celebration of his life with you all.

Oh, wow, I travel for 2 weeks for the first time in 2 years and such a big thing happens exactly during my absence?? I just want to say that I'm sorry for Tuomo's going to the bridge, but I'm extremely proud of the way Äiti has handled it. I never comment because I'm a lurker, but I read all the posts. Always. I got shocked by the news, but relieved to know Tuomo had such a great day on Christmas. Many hugs to perheeni and to Äiti!

Love, Ivy
