Mousehole Monday

When there has been fresh snowfall, it is always very important to inspect the kingdom, just because there may be mousies undet the snow. The best places are the far away boundaries. I bravely trudge through deep drifts in search of mousies.
The search takes concentration and focus.
And I am about to have an unwelcome 'helper',
I try to ignore Jura as he approaches, throwing snow everywhere. All the mousies will hear this and be running away.
I give him my disapproving stare. Jura has never been feral and does not understand the importance of silence and stealth. I had to learn this the hard way when I was a starving pikku pentu in the fields all alone.
But he of course ignores me, so it is time to make a retreat.
And to try to cover him in as much snow as possible as I run off. And I make extra noise to scare away any remaining mousies - just in case!

These are really wonderful photos.
Love the stare and the blur of the retreat with the snow kick. Really great sequence of shots.

Hey! I'VE never been feral, but when there is a lizard in the house, who is the first kitty to find it? ME!!!

Ah, never a day goes by without some drama at your Castle, King P! And it always seems to involve one a them Ninjas! Smug girlcat, hunt-spoiling boycat. Sheesh--what good ARE they, anyway?

Yes, we will have to have a serious discussion about Women. Perhaps after the first of the year.

That pampered little ninja doesn't know about life outside of a warm and cozy home. Mousies are only toys for him not life saving noms! But you, King Kitty of Finland (North), will teach him the skills needed to become a strong Finnish mancat.

P.S. We saw your calendar on Katnip Lounge and we want one! Where can we get it?
Puna, your photo walking throughout the snow is breathtaking!

I feel for you. I have the same problem with Eric. I can be watching a mouse hole, barely breathing, waiting to pounce, and then...STOMP STOMP STOMP. Along comes Eric barging through the grass and mousie is gone.

Look at my mighty hunter in the snow! Good luck finding the mousies, my dear. I hate to think of my kitty king as just a starving pikku pentu hunting in the cold snow just trying to survive. Now, you can hunt in the snow for sport, not survival.

I wanted to come by personally and thank you for the wonderful gifts you sent. The sticky notes will definitely come in handy to remind my mom to buy me treats. The calendar is simply stunning and it will forever remain on January.

XOXO,
Maggie May

Punipippurri, Jura needs your wise mentoring more than snow in the face... SHOW Jura how to track mousies in the snow quietly, and watch the results.

None of US were ever taught how to hunt by our mothers. We learned it from the elders of our new home. Give Jura more chances...
