Blue tinged Monday

The temperature rose (it is still quite chilly though) and we went out to dash in the snow in the bright light of the noonday sunshine. Well, we wish! No sign of the sun and Äiti's camera was struggling! So we apologise for the grainy photos. She could have used flash, but that would have spoilt the atmosphere. Well, that's her excuse. Pekka and Jura were playing in the deepening drifts.
And Pekka of course saw the opportunity for a ninja-slam.
Jura's expression is suitably blurred and impenetrable.
But he does manage to try to escape.
WHich is not easy in all that snow.
He raises a Bottom of Disrespect to Pekka-poika.
Who of course does not give up, and they dash indoors.
Äiti wanted me to pay tribute to a hero of hers who died yesterday, the astronomer Patrick Moore. She never got to meet him but like thousands of others wrote to him when she was a child because she wanted to be an astronomer herself. And he replied individually to her letter - just like he did to all the other thousands of kids. Not just a famous tv presenter and very good astronomer, he recently he wrote a book 'Miaow! Cats really are nicer than people' about his life with his cats. All the profits went to the UK Cats Protection Charity.

Jura always seems to get the raw end of the deal! He appears so tiny next to Pekka.

That was a very nice tribute. The book seems like one well worth checking out.

You boys better come inside where it's warm! Jura looks as graceful as a giraffe in a tar pit in the deep snow.

Mommy salutes Patrick Moore. Any man with a monocle is a hero in her book! Godspeed to the stars.

That second picture looks like what happened to Manny Pacquiao last night, ha ha meow! (He's a Filipino boxer very popular in the SF Bay Area just in case his fame does NOT extend to Finland ;-) Pekka Poika needs to pick on somebody his own size! 'Course, maybe Jura should keep his distance, MOL!

That's a wonderful story about your Aiti's astronomer. It makes him EXTRA lovable that he answered children's letters individually AND EXTRA-EXTRA lovable that he loved us kitties.

Your human has a letter from Patrick Moore? That is so very special! I am impressed that he was so good about replying to the human kittens who wrote him. And that he was so passionate about cats. The feline world has lost a wonderful friend. :-(

Pekka is certainly in fine snow form!!!

We were saddened to read about Sir Patrick Moore too. He was certainly a major figure of #1's younger years too.
