Our final guilt toy from the Weekend of Abandonment was a metal rod. Unimpressive until a shoelace was attached to one end and now it is providing loads of fun. We have long hours of darkness right now (the sun is technically 'up' for only 5 hours a day just now), and Äiti has to keep us occupied (and herself awake). In the evening there are many of us gathered round trying to catch the shoelace. But here we can see it is just Pekka-poika who is blatantly showing off his skills. And tummy.
He was spinning around like a break dancer.
He barely noticed Aila-sisko strut past - usually this would lead to a bit of a chase of a cheeky girlcat.
He is far too interested in the shoe lace.
But it does escape his mancatly claws.
And even a quick spin on his bottom cannot bring it back!
Wethinks it has been ninja'd. That's Pekka's excuse anyway.

Pekka is break dancing!

Those pink tow pads are delicious!
You know, the Human is abandoning me for a big Thanksgiving celebration in a town about 75 miles south of here. I really don't find that acceptable, know what I mean? Shouldn't my Human stay with, well, ME on Thanksgiving? Yeah, that's what I thought too. But I guess there is the consolation of guilt toys like the ones Äiti brought you, eh?
Oh what's that? There won't be any STORES open to buy presents at tomorrow? Well, Human, I beg to differ!! Many stores are opening tomorrow evening so that American shoppers may be parted fromt heir money even faster than usual! No excuse for you not to stop by a store on your way back, around say, oh, 11 p.m. and pick ME up a guilt toy or six. Just sayin'.
That looks like a FANTASTIC toy! Your mom invent it? Is she ever smart! purrs
Thanksgiving is a holiday ostensibly devoted to reminding everyone to be grateful for their blessings (supposedly originating in a shared feast between English Pilgrims and the native Americans who saved their sorry a$$e$ from starvation, MOL!). However, what it has grown to be over the years is an opportunity to cook and enjoy enormous quantities of traditional foods (turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, regular potatoes, green bean casseroles, squash, cranberry sauce, pies, etc. etc. etc. + vast quantities of alcohol) and then collapse in a food coma and watch football games. Recently, merchants have come to the realization that around 8:00 p.m., not one can possibly eat anything more and the games are over, so why not open retail stores so people can rouse themselves from their comatose state and escape the inevitable family squabbles and drama by going--where else?--SHOPPING!
The kittehs approve of the food (usually the family pet can count on some turkey scraps) and the coma. Unlike the stoopy Humans though, we do not watch games or go shopping. We sleep.
And there you have it: American Thanksgiving in all its glory. Feel free to share with all the perheeni.
Well, make that 100 years about 300 years and you pretty much got the picture.
Wonderful photos of Pekka-Poika! We espeically love his eyes in the third one!
Purrs,
The Chans
Fabulous action shots again. Love them.. Hugs GJ xx
You have some impressive moves!
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Great photos of Pekka-poika...his gorgeous fur coat, pink toe-pads, big eyes. The lady says he is "full of kitten-juice" (overflowing with kitten energy and playfulness; she has her own weird "cat vocabulary").
Happy Happy Thanksgiving to you!
You are working out so hard!!!
