Sunday Mouse Moments

On Friday evening Äiti noticed Lewis-veli was glued to the catio boundary.  This photo wasn't taken then as Äiti -for once - was more concerned about what was going on. Lewis-veli was showing 100% focus and he didn't run off when Äiti came outside.
He was scrabbling away and I thought it was great fun to pounce on him. And he ignored me! There must have been something special. Äiti investigated, Lewis moved away, and then a little shrew ran out. And all us mancats were far too slow! Pah! If only we had realised. It escaped. But I can tell you, there were five of us on mousewatch for several hours after that. Paws up to Lewis - and Äiti did feel very sad that she had spoiled his fun.
But I have had some consolation with my favourite mouse.
It can be quite hard in perheeni to have special time with ones favourite mouse thanks to the ninjas. They steal them and throw them all over the place.
But they are not going to steal this one. Look at how smartly it matches my glorious furs.
I am ever watchful that there will be no attack and attempt to steal this prize. I now need to hide it somewhere very secret and special and ninja-proof. Now why is everyone laughing about that ? Pah!

Mowzers! That's a very color-coordinated mousie you got there! So, where's the ninja hiding place again...?

Nothing like a shrew for fun hunting! You look quite fetching with Mr Mouse hanging from your slavering fangs, Sir.

Good luck looking fur that special hiding place! We think no place is safe from the ninjas. MOL! That last pic is so captivating, Mom thinks it should be this year's official portrait!

UGH! Leave it to a human to spoil a good hunt! She owes you kitties one, especially Lewis.

Our human is saying she's glad the shrew escaped. Hmmph.

Are they like moles? We had a mole by the fence a couple of weeks ago, and were quite intent on it. The human thought she'd have to rescue it (this was shortly after the young robin episode), but it managed to escape our clutches on its own, darn it.

One little tiny shrew and five big mancats and you let it escape??? That shrew probably went back to his family and they are still laughing about it now!

That red mousie really becomes you, Puna-Chan.

That is a shame about Lewis' fun being interrupted...

How wonderful you, Lewis. Good show! Our beans do have a way of intervening at the most inopportune of times, don't they.
Puna, the last photo of you with the little red mousie in your mouth is adorable. We know you are a big strong mancat but you have the very sweetest face.
Love to all.

You look GLORIOUS with that mousie! Mommy? Go sweep the broom under the sofa so that I can have my favorite mouseies again.

That shrew will be back and you know what? I am very good at hunting mousies and shrews. XX
