Triumphant Thursday

Our hunting efforts this year have been thwarted by bad weather and lack of prey, but the other day I triumphed and bought home a huge snake.
I made very sure it was not dangerous. We only have one venomous snake here, kyykäärme or viper, and that has a stripy pattern on its back, so I knew this was safe for me to kill as if it tried to bite, I would still be the victor. (Äiti's note: didn't the size also tell you ?)
Of course I played with it a little first before taking my mighty paw and smiting it.
And then Äiti picked it up and threw it back out. What a spoil sport. I have heard you can make good things with snake skin. (Äiti's note - but not much can be done with dried out worms.)

One day Binga and I were playing with something and my human thought it was one of those... and then on closer inspection she realized it was a LIZARD'S TAIL! I tried to run away with the actual, tail-less lizard (who was still alive), but she caught me and took it outside.

I walked into my apartment one day to find one of my cats looking at what I thought was a piece of yarn on the rug. While wondering where she found the yarn, I was surprised when the yarn moved. Baby garter snake--a real one. That has happened twice over the years. Still don't know how the snakes got in.

Lucky! We live an enclosed catio lifestyle. But we guess that's ok because where we live there are lots of critters with very nasty bites.

I like to pull them out of the earth when mum is digging her garden and I fling them around. A few summers ago I kept bringing mum baby vipers. She was not happy about that. She was afraid I would come face to face with their mum. I did and caught her. That really freaked my mum out and she wouldn't let me out of her sight in case I had been bitten and started acting strange. I was okay though. I am a mighty hunter and don't let my prey bite me.
