Monday mancat meal dreams

Now, many loyal readers will remember how I have scorned Äiti's hobby of going to watch stinky birds. She loves it, we hate it when she goes. But of course we are enjoying bird watching from our catio, and this is most pleasurable.
The first Finnish book Äiti bought is the 'Lintutornit' one: a guide to bird watching towers. She can't read it of course, but there are maps.
We live near to the city, but also by a lake. It is about 100m away. Yesterday when Äiti was loading the car, abandoning us for the day she looked up and saw this monster fly over. Kalasääksi, osprey!  This is huge and Äiti has gone many kilometres to see these. She never thought she'd see one from home, and was very happy. She dashed over to the lake and watched two of these flying over. In the meantime I was out on the catio guarding perheeni.
Äiti says they only eat fish so maybe I should have been hoping they would fly over and drop one in! Here is a photo (a really bad one might I add) that she took later of another osprey, many kilometres away, who should have been delivering his catch to us!
But back to our lake, the Pyykösjärvi. As Äiti was there watching kalasääksi, she took some other photos which I will allow her to display, on the promise that we get back to photos of us for the rest of the week. This is naurulokki, black headed gull. We see them fly over a lot.
And here we have our favourite little västäräkki, pied wagtail. Each year we watch for the first one to come, as it means summer is on the way!  Sometimes we see these from our catio, and would of course welcome them inside.
And the ducks have also been busy. We think ducklings are very sweet and would love to play with some. Äiti says that's simply not possible. Pah!

We also enjoy bird watching...we'd rather eat them but c'est la vie.

Mommy says there are ospreys at the lake by her work (Lake Mead). She's seen them on the telephone poles, eating carp.

Our Mommy too, loves bird watching. Just this year she enjoyed a cool morning watching 10 bald eagles! This makes us glad we are inside kittehz!

You have some interesting birds to watch! We just have sparrows, crows and pigeons. I've heard squab is good, though!

I think I would like foreign Bird TV... and best of all, I would not need to read subtitles!

Really, we're sitting here SALIVATING!

Oh, salivating indeed! Gosh, we've never seen a bird as big as an osprey. Just gulls and the myriad other smaller birds.

Good PPP! Be careful! Those huge stinky birds are dangerous. You have to be brave and protect your family like you do.
