Snowy Saturday

The white stuff is back, but luckily not too much of it has fallen. Äiti thinks that we will have an early spring as there are reports of a lot of stinky birds coming back.
It is time then for me to sacrifice my sleep and go outside on merikotka watch. Merikotka is a huge and very stinky bird that could carry away us poor cats and eat us for a snack. Äiti told me that sometimes one visits the lake next door, so ever since then I have made sure I am on guard duty protecting perheeni - no merikotka will get us! I shall defend us. Äiti likes this bird and goes to photograph it, but she has never seen one from the house. She says we are all safe inside the catio, and nothing will get us - but I know it is my defending that will protect us!
Update:
Loyal readers, in response to your comments, I have commanded Äiti posts a picture of the dreaded merikotka. It is called the white tailed eagle in England, but our name means sea eagle. This was taken at the end of April last year. The huge white birds are laulujuotsen, whooper swans. They are not quite so stinky as merikotka because they don't eat us cats. The little birds are lokki, gulls, which are not at all stinky as we could eat them

I'd like to see a photo of this bird... I don't think I would like to see one face to face!

Is that like an eagle?

More snow? We hope spring does come for you also very soon. It has been quite lovely here.

You are very brave, Puna-Chan, protecting your family from such terrifying creatures!

Ooohhh.. that stinky bird looks very scary. The biggest birds I ever see are the crows but they don't ever hurt us. The bluejays kind of annoy us 'cause they're so annoying but the peep says they're pretty so we must put up with them. Do stay safe in your catio, okay? I wish you safe days of protecting your family.

Your family are lucky to have you as their protector, Punapippuri. That eagle has a truly wicked beak and awfully sharp talons.

Not more snow! We have had a week of mostly sunshine and it has even got warmer.
You are a very good protector from the evil bird. We don't get eagles here. The biggest birds we get are buzzards, but they are not interested in us.
