Snow work weekend

Yesterday the sun was shining, and the temperatures had soared! It was  +3'C. And that means melting white stuff. Äiti knows we do not like a wet catio so we sent her out to clear a load more snow.  Mirsku-veli was elected to supervise. All those lumps of snow need shovelling out to back garden beyond.
Mirksu-veli got bored as Äiti took so long. He decided he could multi task and play at the same time. And show his bottom a lot.
He was chasing a bright yellow ball.
And skidding around in the slush.
 He can be quite agile.
And then suddenly he had a friend joining him.
Tessie-kilpikonna had sensed the bright sunlight and headed out. Äiti snapped a quick photo and then took her back inside fast - there's no such thing as an Arctic tortoise even if Tessie thinks she knows better.
Mirsku-veli kept watch to make sure she didn't come outside again.
And in the meantime Äiti did some work. She cleared a lot of the snow by the shelves but left a pile as a wall to separate off the apth to PooCorner - she said it would give us privacy! Ruska is sitting on the shelves - which we can reach now. This is a good place for mousewatch. We are of course hoping that we will have some successful hunting.
Jura-ninja joins in the catio patrol.
Now we did say that it was sunny, and there is no evidence of this that you can see. Thanks to the angles of the catio, the sun puddles at this time of year are quite hard to catch. But Stran-veli found one, and gives us the first photo of glowing furs for 2012.

Aiti's doing a great job, you guys, of clearing your catio. Just think how awful it would be if you didn't have a catio at all! :-)

We have just a dusting of snow right now, supposedly heading up to +9C today, and getting into plus double digits later this week. We say bring it on...if the forecast is accurate. Haha.)

Happy Sunday!

Holy COD, Mirksu is a MONSTER compared to Jura! It is good to see the snow melting, we are in the 70's here today and Mommy is smiling.
Stran, you are one gorgeous Mancat, the ladies here all agree!

Looks like you were having great fun in the white stuff. You have way more than us. Soon, there will be flowers here. You too?

Our mom is quite jealous since winter has seemed to skip us all together this year. But what the heck was Tessie thinking?? Arctic tortoise! haha We girl cats think you are working your Aiti too hard, though, and should cut her a break. You're tough Finnish cats (or British) - you can handle some slush!!

Stran was very smart to find the first sun puddle.

Goodness! Tessie is quite the adventurer. Was it the scent of spring air or sunlight or ??? that lured her out into the cold? If that shell became chilled it would act like a refrigerator! How would she be rewarmed? I am always amazed how nonchalant the cats are about her and she with them.

Mirsku is such a handsome mancat, and he obviously had great fun chasing that yellow ball.

Tessie was very fortunate that Äiti saw her coming out on the patio. Water might be her element, but definitely not its the frozen form. Good of Mirsku to keep watch so she will stay inside!
