Making Medicine Tasty

While I am busy on catio watch duties (no sign of any eagles so far), I shall let Tuomo-veli take centre stage. He is a senior member of perheeni - in age but not status (although he can try). He actually would like to be the only member of perheeni, and have Äiti all to himself but the rest of us tell him this is not possible. He has his own special bedtime routine though, which keeps him very happy. He waits for  Äiti to come to bed. And he is shamelessly tarting.
Then he wants his special spoon of creme fraiche.
 He loves it.
 It gets slurped clean.
Both sides of the spoon have to be cleaned until they shine.
Then he has to have a wash, before leaping in to bed next to Äiti for tummy tickles.
We're not sure if he realises there is a crushed up tablet in the cream, but Äiti is very pleased he eats it. If anyone else is around he won't touch it and gets very sulky. Tuomo has a thyroid problem but he seems very well at the moment. Ystävämme eläinlääkäri says there will soon be a food available here, Hills YD, which will mean he may not need his medicine so I would like to ask any loyal readers if they have experience of this as we believe it is already for sale in the US.

What a tasty way to take meds! We luf the shameless tarting, too! Yes, Hill's YD is just now available in the U.S. too. However, it is a prescription cat food and unavailable at places like Petco.

Yum, I love creme fraiche! I betcha I could taste meds if they were in there, though.

We think we'd be able to taste the meds too! LOL.

What is this Hills YD? We'll have to Google and find out. Food for thyroid cats? Don't quite understand how that would work!

Good heavens, where's the protein in this stuff????

I can't say I never would try it if, goddess help me, one or both of the boys end up hyper-t (like Annie was). But it freaks me out that's there's no protein! Well, no real protein. I do notice it has Lysine, which I give the boys daily anyway. But that's for kitty colds, the Herpes virus. Not sure if it helps for other things.

Tuomo certainly appreciates his quality time alone with Äiti. He is quite a gentleman to clean the spoon so thoroughly - then Äiti will not have to do it afterwards.

My Auntie Blossom gets into that very same position... exposing her tummy for tummy tickles and the like. Peeps ooh and ahh all over her. They seem to love it! But perhaps not as much as I'd like to try some of that special cream. I'm gonna talk to the peep!

It makes life so much easier when there is a pleasant way around taking nasty medication! We have a feeling that Tuomo-Veli would be sad if he no longer got creme fraiche...

The Baby has her Special Time with Mommy in the morning when she gets a dab of the whipping cream Mommy puts in her coffee. HOWEVER, if we get stinky medicine Mommy throttles us and stuffs it down our gullets. She is a MENACE with a pill. She needs to buy creme fraiche.

Oh Tuomo! You beautiful boy! We'd be thrilled to find you waiting to cuddle and be cuddled. And that tummy! So enticing!
Just read about the yd too. This stuff scares me. I've got a hyperthyroid kitty now, Oliver, and know what it took to get him balanced. The food seems too "iffy". I'll stay with the tried and true for now.

See endocrinevet.blogspot.com. Sept 28, 2011 post and March 14, 2012 post concerning yd. There are a few more I think.
