Catio Preparations

We have made sure Äiti has not been slacking in her holiday. She spent a day clearing the garden beyond the catio, and then another day preparing the catio itself for winter. The skyway has been removed and our shelves taken down. She has piled everything up and attempted another 'cat proof tarpaulin' arrangement - this will of course fail as soon as some of us are out after dark and she wants us to go inside in a hurry. The Rock of Norway may block our path but we are sure we can get under somehow.
She has converted some plant shelves into a little multistorey bed arrangement for us. This is cheap and temporary - as soon as the heavy snow comes it will be taken down.  It took Aila-sisko precisely 30 seconds to crush - Äiti has since fixed it more firmly.
Our little reindeer-fur lined hut is back. Tuomo-veli liked this a lot last winter and inspects it carefully.
Aila-sisko inspects the last attempts of the kissanminttu crop to grow.
And here are more of us supervising. Tuomo-veli appears to be in the same position again he isn't stuck (even though he has put on weight recently). We're not sure if we want to keep using the outside litter box, but it's a kind thought from Äiti.
For the moment we like the dirt she has put down in the corners of the catio. Stran-veli was joined by Jura-ninja in some synchronised bodily functions.
Followed by synchronised pawing as all doings were covered neatly.
Inside the house Äiti was also busy. She has been making two feeding 'troughs' for us. The design has been shamelessly stolen from the Katnip Loungers and apparently it saves a lot of mess.  Jura-ninja is keen to learn woodwork skills - or is he just pointing out what Äiti is doing wrong?
Rilli-ukko hopes that soon the kitchen table will be full of his food, and not this other stuff.
This is what he wants. He's a demon for creme fraiche.
Jura-ninja tests out the strength of the trough, which is more like a raised shelf really. He's not convinced. None of us are - the proof will be in the eating from it.
Stran-veli has been supervising from afar. He casts his eye over everything and stretches. All is well in his opinion, and he's getting ready for winter nicely.

Your troughs look FUN! We will be over to test them out, as we are PURRfesional eaters, after all.
The synchronized peeing cracked Mommy up for some reason, she is seriously demented.

I was reading about all your winter preparations with interest until I got to the creme fraiche... and then my eyes sort of glazed over! I have NO idea what that is - my human has never brought any home - but it sounds positively heavenly!

Reindeer fur lined hut! How fascinating! What lucky kitties!
We are always delighted when we see Stran with the little ones. What a dear fellow.
Parts of our country are having snow but we are still warm at 32C in the daytime. We don't envy you your winters!
