We have been giggling about the suggestions to join the Feline Society of Gardeners, made in a fe comments to about our catio antics. Perhaps we should - we think we would be better gardeners than Äiti. She says it is because she has never had a garden before, and the growing season here is so short. Our catio may be clear of snow now but the garden is still full!
We had Tuomo-veli's blood checked for diabetes as he has put on a bit of weight recently and been peemailing more. He was less than happy about having a needle jammed in his precious pawpads to get a sample of his blood. By some miracle no human blood was shed in this process, and the best news is that his blood sugar is fine - lower than Äiti's in fact.
And already today (before 7am!) we have had flying fur and Äiti has been giving reassuring cuddles. The problem is the spring and the light - it fills us man cats with such energy. And ystävämme eläinlääkäri says she has treated very many bites and scratches from cats in the last week: our sap is rising. I was having a very nice 'special cuddle' with Lewis-veli while waiting for breakfast, and this turned into a little scuffle as he moved away, and then somehow there were 6 of us in the same square metre, and a tuxie tangle ensued (Rilli and maybe even Harris), which Stran-veli came to sort out and suddenly there he was with Rilli-ukko fighting and growling on the bedroom floor. It ended very fast and Äiti was cross with these two elder statesmen who should know better. But within minutes she was sat on the bed with Stran-veli and Rilli-ukko both being cuddled and no growling or hard feeling between them. Stran-veli has since been wandering around looking for more chases and play (no one is safe -Harris has just been persued up and down the stairs twice), and Rilli-ukko has had a special yummy breakfast.

Our crowd is full of Spring Fever, too. Even Sweet Pea has taken to weeing in non-traditional areas...she had a litter of kittens before she was spayed and knows all about the siren call of longer days.

Like the Poupounette gang, we were shocked to hear of a blood draw from a paw pad. But then mum remembers that with little babies, they do capillary micro puncture of the heel, taking just the finest bit of blood in a micro collection pipette (not the big vial types with colored tops). Are we correct?
We are so glad to hear Tuomo is not diabetic. He just has high cuddlability factor.
Spring is here for us but our " sap" is very lazy because we live in a hot climate.
You will really enjoy the Society of Feline Gardeners. You'll be able to get lots of advice to help Aiti have a beautiful garden. Love!

Tuomo, I'm so happy with your blood's results but seems you must give some tip for your Äiti...May be make she play chasing : )

About the sap is rising in Spring, Did you guys do neuter ? because I heard if cats don't do neuter, you will get " Heat " when they weather is getting warm.

I hope you have lots of sun on the weekend and wonderful weekend
